Prerequisites

Six sigma certificates have different prerequisites for black belt and green belt. For a black belt you need to complete 4 week six sigma training courses and complete a lean six sigma project. For a green beltcomplete two weeks training and pass the lean six sigma project at the respective organization.

Examination overview

The exam is mainly based on two methods DMAIC and DMADV which are also known as design for six sigma and it covers these areas:

1. Define the goals with strategy
2. Identify and measure the risk and production capacities
3. Analysis of the plan and to design the alternatives for the main strategy
4. To design a better alternatives and choose the best one
5. To establish process capacities

There is a written proficiency test given by the companies. After qualifying the individuals must some projects and show competency in working on the concepts based on the training. Then here is the part where organizations give different projects for different level. Basically the individuals for master black belt or the black belt must do two projects and individuals with green belt can do a single project. As each certification requires individuals to pass the written exam which normally is a multiple choice questions based on knowledge gained during six sigma training classes. There is 150 questions and individuals get to do it in four hours.

Validity of certification

This six sigma certificate is valid for five years and the candidates have to retake the examination or can complete the course for CLSSBB to renew their certificates. Renewing this certificate allows them to have the credentials intact. The certifications should be renewed before the expiration date as after that the certification would be invalid
